Again, thanks for all the prayers and well wishes you have sent our way. They have been abundantly appreciated.
As you may have seen, Dad has been transferred to Touro. During the day, he focuses on his various therapy activities and families are not allowed to visit during that time. By the time visiting hours do begin, most of the therapists are gone for the day. We do get updates, but not on as frequent basis. And we do continue to observe improvements.
Therefore, our posts are going to become less frequent, too. Information will be posted as we see significant changes and as we get updates from the team working with him.
Many of you have asked what you can do to help out. There are two things that would be helpful. Although Dad DID NOT need blood, if you donate blood at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital in his name, it will reduce his hospital bill. That would be a life-saving measure for someone else, as well. And if anyone is willing to visit Dad in New Orleans, especially on a week-day night (Monday thru Friday) that would be helpful. My brother and I try to spend time with Dad on weekends, as it is difficult for us to visit during the week. And Mom goes down frequently, but the trip is fairly long and the ending visitation hours are a little bit late. If you chose to visit, you definitely would not have to stay until the end of visitation, but anytime you could spend with him would lighten the family’s many trips to New Orleans, as well as bring cheer to Dad.
If you want to visit him, please let my Mom know by calling, texting or emailling her at firstname.lastname@example.org. That would really be appreciated!!
If you go, please DO NOT bring food or give drinks to him. Dad’s diet is being monitored as part of his progress. At this time, he IS on a special diet and we do not want to mess that up.
Thank you for your continued support of Dad and our family during this time.
